Anyway, the thing is one of my professors in college has recommended my name for an internship. I need to travel to another city for the same. I have to live independently for the next three months which I am not used to. I am feeling a bit anxious about it. I am also worried if I will be able to meet the expectations of the company. What if I let my professor down? I am worried about it. Can you give me some references from Ramayana?’‘Dhanyawadaha, Maanav, for that question. There is indeed a parallel. As a teenager, Dasharath sent Ram with Rishi Vishwamitra upon the Rishi’s request. Ram did not know exactly where he would be going or what would be required of him. Yet, he went willingly, having faith in the words of his father. The things he accomplished in that journey became critical to Ram’s evolution.’‘Hey, I remember this. He killed some rakshasas and protected a yagna, right?’‘You are right. But there are a lot of things that he also achieved in that process. Firstly, he received initiation into special mantras like Bala and Atibala that helped him overcome hunger, thirst, sickness, etc. He was also taught how to summon and use many divine weapons which Ram taught Lakshmana as well. Ram killed Tataka, Subaahu, and a host of other rakshasas. He also drove away Mareecha, who was as strong as Indra, with just one arrow.’‘Wow! That’s an impressive list of achievements!’ exclaimed Maanav..‘Along with that, Ram also understood the legends associated with important places en route. He visited the hermitage of Gautama Rishi and ended Ahalya’s curse.’‘Hey, I remember her story from an earlier discussion!’‘Sadhuhu (excellent)! It's nice to see that you remember it. It was during this trip that Ram reached Mithila and by breaking Shiva’s bow, won the hand of Sita in marriage.’‘Hmm. So, I believe what this tells me is that I should also trust my professor and go for this internship without anxiety. Of course, I should do my best as Ram and Lakshmana did.
