Determining Your Duty - II

Determining Your Duty - II

Always remember that anyone or anything that opposes your dharma has no claim on your duty. Your duty is to the Truth, to dharma. Your duty is to perform dharma and to know the Truth.

The highest duty of every person is to know the Truth. This is your dharma in life.

The Buddha left his princely life of luxury and power to pursue the highest duty of humankind, the discovery of Truth. Only human beings have the capacity to know, to discriminate and to understand the Truth. This renders them unique amongst all creatures. They have the potential to live up to the Truth. This is the swadharma (highest duty) of all human beings. When that is not accomplished, everything else becomes meaningless.

Whatever helps you to know the Truth becomes your dharma. It is your duty to live up to your true nature.
