Aspire to dedicate your actions to God, He who has given you everything; then life becomes a joy. You simply do your best. If failures come, they are not your loss but His, and He knows what He is doing. If you worked faithfully, in a spirit of dedication, and failure arises, it is simply because He did not want that particular result. Some years ago, I fell very, very sick and was unable to move. It could have been quite terrifying without the knowledge of the Truth. But with this knowledge, I did not grieve over my situation even once. In fact, my only sadness was that I would be unable to do the work for which I had joined the Chinmaya Mission. I thought I would be paralysed in bed all my life and would be unable to assist Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda with his work: there was so much to be done and he had made so many sacrifices already. Gurudev knew I was in a lot of pain and had made all possible arrangements for my well-being. He saw that my sadness was only in that I would not be able to do His work and told me, ‘Do not ever cry to the Lord that I am not able to do your work; tell Him, “Too bad, you lost a good worker!”’
