Rukmini Lakshmipathi

Rukmini Lakshmipathi was a well-known social reformer and freedom fighter from Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district, who played an essential role in India's freedom struggle. Mahatma Gandhi's views strongly affected her, paving the route for her political career.In 1930, Rukmini actively participated in the Civil Disobedience Movement, a pivotal phase in India's struggle for independence from British rule. She had travelled throughout Andhra by 1931, spreading Gandhi's Satyagraha Movement and empowering women. Her participation in the Civil Disobedience Movement assisted in transforming how women were perceived in society. More importantly, she motivated women to join the protest for the first time and to participate in the fight for independence.
