Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20)

It’s okay even if you haven’t held a crayon since you were a child. We all have a spark of creativity in us. It’s just about giving it an opening and nudging it in the direction you want. Be they crayons, watercolours or acrylic paints… pick whatever medium attracts you and let it loosen paper/chart/canvas. An apt preparation for meditation for a creative person like you.

Taurus (Apr 21 - May 21)

Imagine walking in the forest—feeling the earth under your feet, the crackling of dry leaves, the snapping of twigs. And the twittering of birds. The breeze on your face as a leaf or two twirl down and settle on your head. Walking in nature reduces stress and anxiety and improves our overall wellbeing. It also enhances our creativity and focus. Make time for it.

Gemini (May 22 - Jun 21)

Whether an extrovert or an introvert, we all need to speak up and keep our minds empty. Bottled-up thoughts and emotions are like a bomb ready to burst at the slightest provocation. Pour your thoughts into a journal, speak to a friend, discuss with your spiritual mentor, your parents, siblings or relative… anyone who is mature and trustworthy.

Cancer (Jun 22 - Jul 23)

Would a younger you be proud of who you are today? Similarly, would an older you be proud of the choices you are making today? When setting your goals and planning your day, ask yourself these two questions and you are unlikely to stray from your goal of life which is self-realisation. The questions will keep you rooted and stop you from straying.

Leo (July 24 - Aug 23)

Did you help anyone today? Did you help anyone yesterday? What about the day before? In each case, without any expectations, not even an acknowledgement. If you can’t recollect when you last selflessly helped someone, you need to get started right away. The sure way to grow and stay energised is to help someone in need. Better still if the person is a stranger.

Virgo (Aug 24 - Sep 23)

The two reasons you may be procrastinating are—you are feeling overwhelmed with the number of things to be attended to or you are overestimating what you can manage in a given time frame. To get over these hurdles, organise your day. Make a to-do list in order of priority and urgency. Also, take up the tougher tasks when you are most energised.

Libra (Sep 24 - Oct 23)

Sleep, a vital body need, is what we most often overlook. A good night’s rest is necessary for the body’s repair. Lack of adequate sleep raises the risk of many diseases and disorders and affects our mood and general well-being. It's not just the hours that count, but also the timing—sleep early and wake up early. Sleeping late and making up the hours does not help.

Scorpio (Oct 24 - Nov 23)

All work and no play and no work and all play, both are equally detrimental to our well-being and certainly not the way to growth and success. Whether as a student or a professional, a work-life balance is necessary to do justice to all areas and aspects of our lives. Overworking without leisure and just leisure without hard work, both keep us from achieving and being all that we want to be.

Sagittarius Nov 24 - Dec 21)

This Diwali as Ravana or Narkasura (depending on which part of Bharat you are in) is razed to the ground, get rid of the Ravana within too! Write down your anxieties, fears, and negative thoughts and burn them up. Watch them shrivel and burn and visualise all that’s holding you back being burnt and the space filling up with joy, positivity and enthusiasm.

Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 20)

It’s nearly the end of the year and time to take stock of the last ten months. Revisit the goals you had laid down for 2023. If there’s anything you haven’t started on, see if you can get it rolling now. Even if you don’t complete it this year, it will at least get on track to be achieved in the coming year.

Aquarius (Jan 21 - Feb 19)

The Gita advises to operate from sattva or a sense of peace and calm, a position of purity. No matter what challenges come your way, big and small irritants, don’t let them get to you. How you respond is in your hands. You choose to respond, don’t let your mind jump to a reaction.

Pisces (Feb 20 - Mar 20)

‘I can’t meditate’ or ‘I’m not ready for meditation yet’ are excuses. While one may not be able to meditate in the truest sense, there are numerous ways that we can work towards a meditative mind. Begin with being mindful while doing mundane tasks like brushing your teeth, combing your hair or eating. Keep your head where your hands are. It’s a great place to start.
