Matangini Hazra (1870–1942) was an Indian freedom fighter who actively participated in the independence movement and became a martyr during the Quit India Movement in Midnapore. She was shot dead by British police while leading volunteers to seize the Tamluk Police Station in 1942. Earlier, she joined the Civil Disobedience Movement in 1930, was arrested for breaking the Salt Act, and later continued her social work, despite poor health. Dedicated to humanitarian causes, she served marginalised communities and helped people during a smallpox epidemic in her region.
