Drone Delivery in Pharma Sector

Pankaj Lohia

India being a country with a vast land mass and huge rural population  faces numerous challenges when it comes to last mile connectivity. This specifically poses a challenge when it comes to delivering essential services.

The Government of Meghalaya has set up Asia’s first drone delivery hub to distribute medicines to inner-most areas of the state. Through this, essential drugs are being delivered five times faster than ground transport (from 2.5 hours to 30 minutes). The infrastructure consists of one hub and 25 spokes covering a radius of 50 kms.

Technology, if used constructively, is definitely a facilitator of upliftment for the poor, tribal and other economically backward population in the country.
