Lala Hansraj (1863 - 14 November 1938) was a great educationist from Hoshiarpur in Punjab. He was greatly inspired by Swami Dayanand Saraswati and started the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic (DAV) group of schools and colleges. He lived a selfless life of service wanting to take Indic-based education to all students. Further, it was Hansraj’s suggestion to place the Ashok Chakra as a symbol of dharma on the Indian flag.
