If you waste your today fretting over the regrets of yesterday and the worries of tomorrow, you will be left with no today to live. The only real time we have is this moment. Seize it. Make the most of the time in hand to create a better tomorrow. Paying time and attention to regrets and worries is a waste of time, energy and opportunities.

Clutter restricts energy flow. To feel more positive and allow the unrestricted flow of energy, declutter your room and workspace. Get rid of anything that you don’t love and/or don’t use. If you haven’t used it in the last six months, it's unlikely that you will ever use it. Pass it on to someone who could make use of it, or simply dump it.

Admire the good in people, but idolise them at your own risk, as all human beings are vulnerable to failure at some point or the other. Let not another’s fall be the cause of your suffering or loss of confidence. Idolising puts us at the risk of disappointment and disillusion. Sometimes we may not understand the reason behind a person’s decisions and actions.

The next time you feel you need to offer criticism, stop to think how helpful it would be to the receiver. Criticism as constructive feedback is fine, but anything other than that will only harm the relationship. One also needs to think about whether the person is open to feedback. Forcing our views on another is detrimental in more ways than one.

Feeling awful? Want to feel good about where you are today? Sit quietly and reflect on where you were ten or five years ago. Mentally trace your journey from where you were to where you are today. What are the things you are better at today? What obstacles have you overcome? What are the little things you have achieved?

It takes a few seconds to hurt the people you love but it takes years to heal wounds. Try not to hurt your near and dear ones. What seems minor to you might be an extremely sensitive subject for another. Pause before you speak, think before you act and you will build lasting relationships.

Everything in our life is there because we attracted it. Invariably, we get what we think about, whether we want it or not. Whatever we put our energy into, is what we magnetise and attract into our life. The universe does not understand negations. So be aware of what you think and make sure it is what you want becoming a reality.

Other people are not responsible for your happiness. You alone are. Don’t expect others to fix your problems for you. If you’re not happy with your life, it’s up to you to identify what needs to change and act on it. And do it soon. Time lost is time lost. It cannot be recovered.

What do you love about your job? Is it more than what you hate about it? Can you change the things you love to do, into work? If not, can you change something about your work to make it more enjoyable for you? Like its said, ‘If you love what you do and do what you love, you don’t have to work for a single day of your life’.

Most of our mental energy is lost in thinking about the past or the future. Learn to live mindfully, being completely aware of the moment. Become aware of your surroundings – the sounds you hear, the taste in your mouth, the smell in the air… Try to sustain this awareness throughout the day. The more mindfully we live, the happier we will be.

The lions believe they are the best. But remember, there is always room for self-improvement. The day we think there is nothing more to improve on, is the day we begin to stagnate. Excellence has no finishing line. Life is fun and fruitful when we work towards growth and refinement. If we are not growing, we are not living well.

Carrying grudges, harbouring resentment and anger is like carrying a heavy load with us, wherever we go. We gain nothing. All it does is weigh us down and tire us out. Starting now, drop the excess baggage. You will not only travel more smoothly through life but also find it easier to reach your chosen destination.
