Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (CVV) organised Soccer Fiesta 2022 – a 5’s football tournament for all schools of Kerala from 26 February to 3 March 2022. 32 schools participated in the five day long event from all over Kerala. The teams were split into four pools, the team which topped each pool would qualify for the semi-finals to be held on day five.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Ravi Moodley, a UEFA-b licensed coach from South Africa. Mr. Anish P. S. (Assistant Director-Physical Education, CVV) greeted all the players wishing them the best for the upcoming matches.
What ensued was a fine display of dribbling, stout defence, spectacular goals and brilliant saves. The energy was high from the first whistle itself and it charged up the spectators as well.
On day five, Tharbiyath VHSS Muvattupuzha and Asram HSS Perumbavoor faced each other in the finals of Soccer Fiesta 2022. Tharbiyath VHSS Muvattupuzha held on to a slender lead and became the champions of Soccer Fiesta 2022.
The chief guests for the valedictory ceremony were Dr. Renjith T. A. (Assistant Coach, U16 Indian National team) and Dr. Sreevalsa Kumar (Dean-Academics, CVV) who presented the medals, certificates, and trophies to the finalists. Best performers of the tournament were awarded best defender, best player, promising player, and best goalkeeper trophies towards the end of the function.
The coaches of the teams and Dr. Renjith thanked the organisers for a wonderful experience. He highlighted the major avenues available for sports in our country and how one should give their best at every single match without compromise.
Dr. Sreevalsa Kumar spoke about how education has changed the world and the role of sports in shaping one’s mind and attitude. He encouraged everyone to keep healthy activities in addition to their academic life.
