We salute and adore Veer Hanuman, the joy of Anjani. Only the one who is a source of joy to his/her mother and the destroyer of her sorrows can be called a putra. According to our scriptures, a putra or putré is one who frees his/her parents from narak. The word is loosely translated as hell, but our shastras mention up to 28 different types of hell. However, even on Earth, regrettably, some children make their parents’ lives a living hell, to the extent that the parents refuse to acknowledge them as their offspring. However, a true son or daughter ends his/her parents’ burdens and worries, and brings delight, joy and happiness to their lives.
Parents want children to gain happiness. When children are happy, cheerful, productive, and live noble lives, it makes parents happy. Hanuman regarded both Janaki and Anjani as his mothers—and successfully removed their anguish and sorrows.
