When No One's Watching!

'Hey VR! I need some help. I was working on the model of my science project today. Since it was after college hours, I was the only one there. I accidentally damaged another student’s mode. There are no CCTV cameras there, and nobody saw me or knew that I was there. I quietly came back home, but I am feeling restless! Can you use the stories from Ramayana to guide me?' Asked a distressed Maanav.

'This is indeed a predicament, Maanav. The Ramayana has plenty of examples for this. One famous episode was when Dasharath mistakenly shot a young boy who was collecting water for his old blind parents. Dasharath was shocked, but the young boy consoled him and asked him to take water to his parents.'

'I have heard of this story. Doesn't he get cursed or something?'

'Yes, he does, but before that, Dasharath carries water to the boy’s parents and confesses to them. The old parents ask to be taken to the body of their son and give up their lives on his pyre. The father curses Dasharath that he too will die broken-hearted by separation from his son!'

'Now, I am more confused. Are you telling me that Dasharath should have kept quiet and escaped the curse?'

'On the contrary, the boy's father said that it was only because Dasharath confessed that he escaped getting burnt by their wrath. The curse also ensured that Dasharath would have a son like Ram, whose separation would take his life! One can never escape the results of one’s actions, but by taking responsibility, we can atone, and it will help us become better!

'Hmmm, you are right, VR! They say the true character only shows up when no one is watching. I now know what I must do. I am going to channel Maharaj Dasharath and go to the student whose project got damaged. After that, I will let them decide what to do about this! Thanks to you and Ramayan for giving me clarity once again!'

'Glad to be of use, Maanav. Thanks for using Ramayan Reboot'.
