Pandit Raghunath Murmu (5 May 1905 – 1 February 1982) was a legendary Indian writer, educator, and cultural reformer, primarily known as the inventor of the Ol Chiki script used for the Santali language. He is revered as Guru Gomke (The Great Teacher) by the Santhal community for providing them with a distinct written identity. Before Murmu, the Santali language was written using Roman, Bengali, Devanagari, or Odia scripts, none of which perfectly matched its phonetics. He authored over 150 books, including plays, poetry, and novels, during his lifetime.
