Professor Rohini Godbole was a pioneering particle physicist who passed away recently in October 2024. Prof. Godbole was a visiting scientist at CERN and was keenly involved in future colliders. She was a champion and facilitator for women in science, playing a pivotal role in bringing their challenges to the forefront. She published two popular books: ‘Lilavati’s Daughters’ and ‘The Girl’s Guide to a Life in Science’. She won many accolades and awards for her commendable work including the Padma Shri from the Government of India and the Ordre National du Mérite from France.
