Subhash Palekar is a veteran agricultural scientist and innovator from Maharashtra who developed the ground breaking system of Zero Budget Natural Farming. Inspired by ancient Indian agricultural texts and the ecological balance of traditional forests, his method relies entirely on formulations made from the dung and urine of indigenous cows, eliminating the need for chemical fertilisers or expensive commercial inputs. Over the last three decades, his methods have been adopted by millions of small farmers across India, restoring soil health, reducing farming debts, and promoting healthy, toxin-free food. He was honoured with the Padma Shri for his selfless work in reviving traditional agrarian wisdom.
