Sundaram Verma is a pioneering farmer from Danta village in Sikar district, Rajasthan, renowned for developing a groundbreaking ‘one-litre water’ technique that enables saplings to grow in arid zones with minimal irrigation. Over the last three decades, he has planted more than 60,000 trees, conserving hundreds of thousands of litres of water and transforming barren landscapes into green cover. Apart from his farming experiments since 1985 and afforestation, he has preserved over 700 native seed varieties across 15 major dry-zone crops. He also promotes organic, water-efficient agriculture while mentoring farmers, scholars and institutions nationwide.
