Rani Gaidinliu (1911-1993) was a Naga spiritual and political leader who fought against British rule and the forced religious conversion of her tribe. She led guerrilla warfare and was imprisoned for life. Gaidinliu joined the Heraka religious movement, led by her cousin Haipou Jadonang, at the age of 13. The movement aimed to revive the Naga tribal religion and establish self-rule, challenging British policies and the spread of Christianity. Within the Heraka faith, she was considered an incarnation of the Goddess Cherachamdinliu.
